Man in hospital after 'unprovoked attack by teens' in park

Police have launched an appeal after an "unprovoked" park assault in South Bristol left a man in his 50s hospitalised and unable to work.

The teenage boys reportedly began their attack as the man was "simply walking" nearby a basketball court in Victoria Park around between 6pm and 6.30pm on May 21.

He was later transported to the hospital by ambulance and received treatment having sustained fractures to both eye sockets and a broken nose.

Investigating officer PC Alex Johnson said: “This was an unprovoked attack on someone who was simply walking through the park.

“The victim sustained painful injuries which have left him unable to work and so we’re hoping the public can help us identify those responsibly. There were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident who we believe might have witnessed what happened.

“Please don’t leave it to someone else to contact us, if you saw something or can help us identify the offenders get in touch.”

He added: "The offenders are described as being aged around 16-18-years-old, all with brown hair and all wearing grey tracksuits. One rode a bicycle."

Anyone with information that can help the police is asked to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222120671 or complete our online appeals form.
