A man has been rescued from the water after falling from the Redheugh Bridge.
Emergency services rushed to the Quayside after receiving reports that a male had falling from the bridge and into the River Tyne. Police and paramedics attended the scene and the man was rescued from the water.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle where he remains. The incident occurred shortly before 4pm on Monday afternoon.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 4pm yesterday (Monday) we were called to a report of a man having fallen from the Redheugh Bridge into the water below.
"Emergency services attended and the man was rescued from the water and taken to hospital, where he remains."
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said: "We were called at 15:56pm on Monday 29 May to an incident on the Quayside at the Redheugh Bridge.
"We sent one specialist paramedic, one clinical team leader, three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles and two emergency ambulances. One patient was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."
