Man in his 50s fighting for life after stabbing in Sydenham

A man in his 50s is fighting for his life in hospital following a stabbing in Sydenham during the early hours of this morning.

The victim was discovered on Kent House Road, close to the junction with Sydenham Road, at around 2am on Thursday, 26 February.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to a major trauma centre as a priority case. He remains in critical condition, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

No arrests have been made and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation.

Kent House Road has been cordoned off between Sydenham Road and Cricket Lane. Transport for London has confirmed bus route 356 is on diversion.

The London Ambulance Service alerted police to the incident at 2.10am after finding a man with serious injuries.

Officers arrived alongside paramedics and discovered the man suffering from a knife wound. He was taken to hospital where his condition remains life-threatening.

Detectives have launched an investigation with enquiries ongoing and no arrests made at this stage.
