Gardai investigating the death of a man found outside a hotel in Co Monaghan on Tuesday have confirmed that he suffered head injuries.
The man, who is understood to have been an asylum seeker, was found dead outside a hotel on Kingscourt Road in Carrickmacross by a member of the public at around 8am.
A post-mortem has been completed on the body of the deceased by State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers, the results of which are not being released for operational purposes.

The male suffered a head injury, the circumstances of which gardai say “are unexplained at this time.”
Investigating officers had previously suspected that the injuries could have been incurred from a fall but are said to be keeping an open mind after they were called to a dispute within the hotel on Monday night.
The M Hotel, located just four miles outside Carrickmacross, provides emergency accommodation for people seeking asylum as well as those in direct provision.
Sources say there was a row between a number of individuals, which resulted in gardai being called to the scene at around 10pm.
Officers are understood to be probing whether there is any connection between the incident and the death.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Carrickmacross are continuing to investigate the discovery of a body of a man on Tuesday morning, 1st November 2022, on the curtilage of a premises on the Kingscourt Road at Lossets, County Monaghan.”
