An unidentified man was found dead in a pond at Benjasiri Park in Klong Toey district of Bangkok late Friday night.
According to Thonglor police, security camera video showed the man was involved in a fight with another person before being thrown into the water.
Police and rescuers were called to the scene after receiving a report that someone had fallen into the pond at the 11-acre park located on Sukhumvit Road.
When officers arrived, witnesses said the person had fallen near the edge of the pond. As officers held up tarpaulins to block the view of a crowd of bystanders that had gathered, a diving team searched the water and eventually recovered the body.
The man was found shirtless, wearing only black shorts and carrying no identification documents, officers said.
Initial reports indicated an argument involving two people had taken place. CCTV video appeared to show the victim was assaulted until he lost consciousness, after which the perpetrator threw him into the pond and fled.
Police said the investigation was continuing to determine the cause of death and to identify both the dead man and the suspect.
