A man fled "in only boxer shorts" from a masked gun gang which ruthlessly opened fire in his home.
The yobs hunted down their target in a block of flats late on Friday night but he escaped by jumping half-naked from a first floor window.
Worried neighbours in Salford, Greater Manchester, said they have been startled by the disorder, believed to have lasted approximately 20 minutes.
While police confirmed four to five men, dressed in black, opened fire to "intimidate" a resident, the constabulary confirmed no one was hurt and no arrests were made.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, told Manchester Evening News : “The sound of shouting woke me up. It must have gone on for 20 minutes. They smashed a window and tried to break through the door.
“The next thing the man jumped out of a first floor window. He was barefoot and only had boxers on. Then I heard four or five shots. To be honest I daren’t look. It was terrifying.
"He ran off. I’ve no idea what happened to him. I’m going to get onto the housing to be moved out. It’s not usually like that around but it was properly scary."
Up to five shots were fired in the property in the cul-de-sac at around 11.45pm on Friday. A cordon was placed outside flats there throughout Saturday.
Forensic officers were seen combing a patch of grass within the taped off area, which is near a park.
Other residents shared their concern today.
One said: "I heard a few shots but I didn’t want to open the curtains. It was pretty scary. I could hear loads of shouting."
Police, though, stressed "there is no risk to the wider public."
