A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash on the M66 last night.
The smash happened on the northbound carriageway between junction four at Simister Island for the M60/M62 and junction three for Pilsworth at around 7.15pm last night (Monday). Two vehicles were involved, police said.
A man - aged in his 30s - was rushed to hospital from the scene with life-threatening injuries. Two other people were injured, the fire service said, with one of these also taken to hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene to assist officers. No arrests have been made.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The northbound stretch of the motorway was fully closed off after the crash last night.
It remained shut overnight as accident investigation work was carried out. The road was reopened again at around 9am this morning, though long delays remain in the area and on the M60 nearby.
PC Karl Horner, from GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, thanked members of the public for their patience with the delays. He urged any witnesses of the crash to come forward.
He said: "Officers and emergency services worked tirelessly to try and clear the scene and create a safe route for passengers. We were aware that the incident caused significant delays and I would like to thank the public for their patience.
"We would also like to appeal to any witnesses of this accident, or anyone who has dash-cam footage and was driving on the M66 northbound minutes before the incident, to come forward. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
