A man faces prosecution after flying a drone over Manchester Airport.

Police said the man flew the drone into the restriction zone this morning (Monday). The safety zone stretches 5km over the airport area.

His drone was seized from him by officers and he could now face prosecution. Police warned other drone operators to stay out of the area.

A tweet posted by the Manchester Airport police said: "You cannot fly your drone within Manchester Airports flight restriction zone (FRZ). An operator flew this morning within the 5 Km zone.

"He now has his drone seized and faces prosecution. The only exception is for necessary flights authorised by air traffic control (NATS)."
