A man accused of fatally stabbing his partner in Darwin has made his first court appearance.

Dennis Naroldol, 56, faced Darwin Local Court on Monday charged with murder.

Police and paramedics were called to the DoubleTree by Hilton on Friday night after an injured woman entered seeking help for stabbing injuries.

The 51-year-old woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and died a short time later, police said.

Naroldol was arrested without incident nearby a short time later.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary examination mention on June 14.

He did not enter a plea or apply for bail.
