Man dies near Bristol railway line after huge emergency response

A man has died following a huge emergency response near a railway station in Bristol on Wednesday evening (March 16).

Police officers from both Avon and Somerset Police and the British Transport Police were called to the railway bridge near St Anne's Park at 5.20pm following reports of a casualty near the tracks. Ambulance and fire crews were also in attendance to assist.

Trains were held on the affected line and the road was closed with police tape marking off the area. Buses conveyed passengers to their destination where possible, according to Great Western Railway. British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the line in Bristol following reports of a concern for welfare incident.
