Man dies in horror crash as gardai shut road through Wexford seaside village

A man aged in his 60s has died following a crash in Co Wexford.

The single-vehicle collision happened in Curracloe village around 10.35am on Monday.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was taken to Wexford General Hospital where he later died.

A post-mortem is due to be conducted at a later date.

Gardai have shut the road through the seaside village while Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Motorists are being advised that local diversions are in place.

Witnesses or anyone with camera footage is asked to contact gardai.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are currently at the scene of a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10.35am on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Curracloe, County Wexford.

“The only occupant of the car involved in this collision, a man in his 60s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital where he later passed away. A post-mortem will be conducted at a later date.

“Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene. As a result, the road through Curracloe Village is closed and local diversions are in place.

“Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Curracloe Village area between 10.15am and 10.35am are asked to make this footage available to gardai.”
