A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the A1 motorway in County Durham.
Emergency services attended the scene of the collision which took place between junctions J61 A688 Tursdale Road ( Bowburn ) and J60 A689 ( Bradbury ) at around 2am on Saturday.
Diversions were put in place while police carried out collision investigation works and the road was closed in both directions.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service confirmed that they also attended. He said: "We got a call at 2.08am this morning. A pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car on the A1 just after Junction 60. We dispatched two ambulance crews to the scene."
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said that the investigation into the collision is now underway and appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is being urged to assist as soon a possible.
She said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a HGV on the A1(M) Northbound between Junction 60 at Sedgefield and Junction 61 at Bowburn in the early hours of this morning.
"The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, sadly died at the scene. The road remains closed as officers work with Highways England and an investigation is underway."
