A man who went to hospital after being bitten by a dog died four days later, an inquest has heard. Mark Jones went to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd's emergency department on December 7 after began to feel unwell - telling friends he felt "shocking".
The opening of his inquest was told that it was "probable" the former journalist had contracted sepsis as a result of the dog bite. NorthWalesLive reported that when the 61-year-old arrived at hospital the infection was "so far advanced" his prognosis had looked "very poor" on arrival. The hearing was told that Mr Jones, of Prestatyn, died the next day.

John Gittins, coroner for north Wales east and central, said that a probable cause of death was multi-organ failure due to the sepsis infection. The hearing was adjourned for a full inquest to take place next year
Last week tributes were paid to Mr Jones who worked for several North Wales titles including the North Wales Chronicle and The Pioneer. He was also a well known figure in the football community and served as a former vice-chairman of Prestatyn Town Football Club.
He also ran The Beautiful Game - a football memorabilia shop on Prestatyn High Street. His wife Yvette paid this emotional tribute last week: "He was such a loving, kind and selfless person who always put Michael, Lili Little Legs and me first and only wanted for us to be happy, loved and cared for.
"The shock and incomprehension of his death will take a long time to come to terms with and our heartbreak will be forever."
