A man died in hospital following reports of him "acting erratically" in the street.
Merseyside Police confirmed officers were contacted at around 8.25am today, Monday, April 10 following reports of a man acting erratically on Bedford Road, Bootle. A force spokesperson told the ECHO the man was believed to have suffered a medical episode and was taken to hospital where he has since died.
The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Several police vehicles remained on Bedford Road following the incident this morning.

Residents and an employee at Stanley Wines on nearby Stanley Road told the ECHO they were first aware of an incident after the considerable police presence arrived on the row of terraced houses. A single police officer was seen standing in the open doorway of one of the houses on Bedford Road sheltering from the torrential downpour when the ECHO visited the road at around 11.30am.
A police cordon was in place at two entrances to the alleyway that ran behind both Bedford Road and Wadham Road. There was also a police cordon blocking the entrance to the alleyway on Wadham Road.
An eyewitness told the ECHO a North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) crew attended to rush the man to hospital following the medical episode. A second person added police were carrying out door-to-door enquiries, with officers requesting CCTV and doorbell footage.
The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the police contact prior to the man being taken to hospital.
