A MAN has died following a major emergency response in a town in West Lothian, with police saying a firearm may have been involved.

Detectives are investigating the death of the 35-year-old, who was found injured at a property on Harestanes Road, Armadale, shortly before midday on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

One line of inquiry is that his death may have involved a firearm. His next of kin have been informed.

Police are also investigating a car fire in nearby Netherhouses, which may be linked to the death of the 35-year-old.

No injuries were reported in relation to the car fire.

Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay, of Police Scotland’s major investigations team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died in this incident.

“Officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns or any information can approach them or call us on 101, quoting incident number 1361 of Saturday September 12.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it sent two appliances after it was called to reports of a vehicle fire at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

They added that the incident is being led by police.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: “We were called at 12:33 by police to reports of a vehicle fire in the Upper Bathville area.

“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the incident which is being led by police.”

Both Brown Street and Harestanes Crescent were sealed off by police amid the incident.
