A man has tragically died after a single-vehicle crash on a Scots country road.
The driver of a red Jaguar XK8 Coupe was travelling along the on the A83 Old Military Road, near Ardgartan in Argyll and Bute on Saturday, September 24 when it drove off the road. Medics rushed to the collision at 6.05pm but sadly, the 70-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for almost eight hours to allow police to carry out investigations. It re-opened at 1.55am today. Officers have launched a probe into the fatal crash and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
In particular, they want to speak to the driver of a blue Fiat who is believed to have seen the car prior to the collision.
Sergeant Archie McGuire of Argyll and West Dunbartonshire Road Policing Unit said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased, following their tragic loss. I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.
“I am particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a blue coloured car, possibly a Fiat, which was travelling from Arrochar and may have witnessed the car prior to the crash.”
