Man dies after falling near Scottish beauty spot located on NC500

A MAN has died after falling close to a beauty spot located on Scotland’s NC500 route.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Keiss Castle in Caithness around 2.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirmed a man fell near the Highland landmark, which is located around seven miles from Wick and a popular stopping point for those travelling the NC500.

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) confirmed two ambulances were sent to the scene while a patient was transported to the Caithness General Hospital.

An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 2.25pm to attend an incident near Keiss Castle.

“Two ambulances were dispatched, and one patient was transported to Caithness General Hospital, Wick.”

Police later confirmed the man had been pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 30 2024, police received a report of a man injured falling near to Keiss Castle.

“The man was taken to Caithness General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Next of kin have been made aware.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
