Man dies after falling ill at Scots Aldi as emergency crews race to scene

A man has collapsed and died at a busy supermarket in Ayrshire.

Emergency services rushed to Aldi on East Road, Irvine, after the alarm was raised shortly before 6pm yesterday.

Cops were scrambled to the scene following reports of a man having fallen ill within the shop.

Tragically, upon arrival, the man was pronounced dead.

Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

They added that a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a man having taken unwell within a shop on East Road in Irvine around 5.55pm on Wednesday, 25 May, 2022.

“Emergency services attended, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
