A 20-year-old man has died following a crash in Westmeath.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports emerged of a car hitting a parked vehicle and a wall on the R148 at Griffinstown near Kinnegad at roughly 9:30pm last night. The two occupants of the car were treated by emergency staff, but the male passenger was pronounced death shortly afterwards.
The driver was taken by ambulance to the Regional Hospital in Mullingar. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The parked car was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Gardai are asking for people who witnessed the collision to come forward, including anyone who has dash cam footage of the incident. Motorists who were travelling on either direction of the R148 at the time of the crash may be able to assist Gardai with their enquiries.
The scene remains cordoned off following the collision, with local traffic diversions in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigator are examining the crash site.
