A man has died after being rescued from Saltcoats harbour last night.
Emergency services raced to the Ayrshire coast at around 8.35pm yesterday evening to a report of concern for a man within the water.
A number of rescuers were dispatched to the scene, including a helicopter.
However, officials confirmed today that the man subsequently died at hospital.
Police said this evening that the man's next of kin have been made aware and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A Police Scotland spokespersons said: “Around 8.35pm on Wednesday, 3 May, 2023, police received a report of concern for a man within the water, off Saltcoats Harbour. A 66-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he subsequently died. Next of kin are aware and there are no suspicious circumstances.”
