A man has died after he was hit by a train at a crossing in Long Eaton. He was struck at the Meadow Lane crossing on the line between Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway stations yesterday morning, September 28.
Despite being treated by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. East Midlands Railway (EMR) confirmed the nature of the incident near Long Eaton yesterday, and said affected routes had been closed by authorities until they reopened at 1pm.
Now British Transport Police (BTS) confirmed in a statement today that he died after police were initially called to the tracks after reports of a casualty at 9.36am, reports Derbyshire Live.

Witnesses reported that the incident occurred at the at the Meadow Lane crossing. BTS has also confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious by officers and is being prepared for consideration by the regional coroner.
A spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Long Eaton at 9.36am yesterday (28 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
EMR told Nottinghamshire Live : "We are sorry to report that a person has been hit by a train between Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway/Derby. Emergency services are now on site and managing the situation. Alternative ticket arrangements have been made for you."
