A man has died in hospital more than a week after suffering critical head injuries in an early morning assault near a popular Sydney beach.
Officers were called to The Corso in Manly on the city's northern beaches about 3am on January 27, when they found the 37-year-old who was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Investigators were told on Tuesday night he had died after earlier being placed in an induced coma, NSW Police said in a statement on Wednesday.
A 24-year-old local man was arrested over the incident, charged with assault and remains before the courts.
A report will be prepared for the coroner as investigations continue.
