A man has died after being hit by a train in Bristol on Monday afternoon, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the train line near Long Ashton at 4.15pm yesterday afternoon (March 21) after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks. Trains running through Bristol were stopped for several hours during the emergency service response.
Sadly, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The British Transport Police said in a statement that his death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line near Long Ashton at 4.15pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
