A man who felt his rib snap after sneezing is urging people to "live in hope" after being diagnosed with an incurable cancer.
Ian Lawless, of Grassendale, sneezed so loudly that it had "jolted" his rib, leaving it "very sore" for several weeks back in 2017. He decided to visit his GP after starting to suffer back pain and was told his rib was in fact broken, before his doctor ordered bloods "as a precaution".
Ian told the ECHO that bizarrely, those blood tests came back clear but "for some unknown reason" the GP decided to order a second set of blood tests which soon showed he had myeloma. Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer, claiming the lives of around 3,000 people in the UK every year and is "hard to spot".
