Man City youngster Kayky lifts lid on settling into life in Manchester

Man City promising starlet Kayky has revealed the player who helped him settle into life at the Etihad Stadium following his move from Fluminense in the summer of 2021.

Kayky was spotted while playing back home and snapped up by the reigning Premier League champions in a deal worth £15million. In a deal that was meant to go through in January 2022, City moved the date forward and brought him to England last summer. The 18-year-old made his City debut in the FA Cup this year, coming off the bench against Swindon Town.

A month later he made his second appearance for the club, this time in the Premier League against Norwich City, again from the substitute bench. The teenager has settled in extremely quickly and singled out a few players that have helped him get comfortable in his new surroundings.

“My adaptation is being good. Fernandinho is a guy who helps me a lot, he is a club legend and very respected, he has taught me to get to the right way. The other Brazilians; Ederson and (Gabriel) Jesus also help me a lot talking to me," he revealed in an interview with Desimpedidos. "The Portuguese guys, like [Joao] Cancelo, Ruben [Dias] and Bernardo [Silva] help me a lot and some English players also try to talk a little bit."

City's first-team squad is full of world-class stars, from Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez to Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne. It is the latter who left a lasting impression on the Brazilian, noting how kind and pleasant the Belgian international was when he first arrived at the Etihad Campus training ground.

“The first player I met was Kevin De Bruyne; he greeted me, I couldn't believe it, and on the first day everyone wants to meet you and you think, ‘Wow, that's crazy'. A movie plays in your head and you remember you playing in the street and says, ‘All the hard work worth it'.

"You feel the anxiety and it seems like it's your first time on the field, I remember when I was a little boy and I played with the ball fast to breathe a little because I was nervous, full of anxiety, however then you calm down and the club staff will always help you which is very important to me.”
