Oleksandr Zinchenko remains a transfer option for Everton with the Manchester City player offering Frank Lampard a potential alternative to Harry Winks. The ECHO revealed on Wednesday that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have held talks over Winks and while discussions are at an early stage, all three parties were hopeful that a deal could be done with the 26-year-old keen on a move to Goodison Park in an attempt to revive his Premier League career after being frozen out by Antonio Conte.
However, with Lampard eager to revamp his midfield, Zinchenko offers him a different kind of solution and reports in recent days have suggested that Everton are leading the chase for the Ukrainian international. Unlike Gabriel Jesus, who is closing in on a move to Arsenal, the ECHO understands a Zinchenko exit is not pivotal to Manchester City’s summer plans, but the Premier League champions would be open to selling him for the right price.

The 25-year-old played in just 15 of Pep Guardiola’s side’s 38 Premier League matches in 2021/22 – all as a left-back – and could find his game time further restricted if they complete the signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Zinchenko has indicated that he is eager to play more football next term but seems likely to have to depart the Etihad in order to fulfil that desire. While his versatility could prove useful to Lampard, it is unlikely that he would be deployed primarily as a left-back for Everton given the presence of his compatriot Vitalii Mykolenko, a £17million signing in January, currently occupying that position. Instead he could operate in his more favoured role as a box-to-box midfielder, like he often does when playing for his country.
