As City and Brighton haggle, alternative emerges
City’s pursuit of Brighton’s left-back Cucurella is ongoing despite there still being a sizeable difference in the valuation put on the player by the two clubs. According to Barcelona outlet Sport Guardiola definitely wants the Spain international but will happily start the season without him believing he has options to cover the gap.
Nathan Ake remains one and Josh Wilson-Esbrand another but Oleksandr Zinchenko’s departure to Arsenal make it likely that if City cannot get agreement with the Seagulls, they will look elsewhere.
Sports Illustrated claim Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa could is the most likely cheaper option if a deal for Cucurella cannot be done.
