Man City transfer gossip: Raheem Sterling U-turn made as Pep Guardiola eyes Brazil ace

Manchester City are set to keep Raheem Sterling, with reports suggesting they could be ready to re-enter contract negotiations with the England international.

Sterling had been tipped to join Spanish giants Barcelona during the current transfer window before the Catalan side opted to instead sign his City teammate Ferran Torres.

It comes following reports that Manchester City are interest in signing Athletico Paranaense full-back Abner after Pep Guardiola reportedly sent a team of scouts to watch the 21-year-old.

And Manchester City youngster Morgan Rogers could be set for a dramatic mid-season switch, despite already being on loan at Scott Parker's Bournemouth.

Rogers could move

Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town are 'interested' in signing 19-year-old Morgan Rogers, it has been claimed.

Rogers has spent the first half of the season on loan in the Championship, where he has made 15 appearances for Scott Parker's Bournemouth.

But City are said to be 'considering' recalling the youngster amid interest from Huddersfield and Forest, according to the Daily Mail.

Bournemouth have an agreement in place meaning they could sign Rogers for £15million when his loan expires in the summer, but reports suggest City may decide to cash in on the youngster even sooner.

Brazilian ace eyed

Pep Guardiola is interested in bringing Brazilian left-back Abner to CIty, according to rpeorts.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims City are 'on his trail' and 'want to buy him in the summer'.

The player reportedly has a £21million release clause in his contract at Athletico Paranaense, which expires in 2024.

Guardiola has reportedly sent a team of scouts over to Brazil to report on the young full-back, and appears to have been impressed with what he's been told.

Sterling U-turn

Raheem Sterling has gone from looking like he would leave Man City at the beginning of the transfer window to being offered the chance to extend his stay with the club, it is reported.

ESPN reports talks over an extension to the winger's contract, which expires at the end of next season, were "halted while the 27-year-old made sure he was part of Pep Guardiola's long-term plans".

He had been linked with a move to Barcelona during the current transfer window, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are also said to hold long-term interests in the player.

But he now appears set to stay at the Etihad, with a new contract potentially on the horizon.

The report adds that Sterling's "spell out of the team made him consider a loan move away from City in January, but there is growing expectation he will now stay at the Etihad".
