Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola appeared to pull the drawer bridge up on transfer activity last week insisting there would be no more incomings - but that has not stopped the rumour mill spinning, particularly with regard to a perceived vacancy in his defensive ranks.
The capture of Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht for around £12million would appear to have plugged a gap at left-back. Certainly Guardiola said so explicitly in his pre-match press last Friday insisting plans to put him straight out on loan had changed. Yet sources in Europe are still linking possible replacements with a move to the Etihad.
Barcelona's courtship of Bernardo Silva is still rumbling on while offers are flooding in for one of their talented youngsters. Mirror Sport has rounded up the best of the City transfer news, rumours and gossip.
Loan interest in young striker
Southampton and Burnley are back in the frame as possible loan destinations for striker Liam Delap. Pep Guardiola put interested clubs on high alert insisting at the weekend that the highly-rated forward needed minutes in senior football. Saints had a permanent offer knocked back for the striker earlier this summer but the Daily Echo report they may be interested in a loan deal. Burnley are also understood to be viewed as a suitable posting according to Lancashire Live. Delap, son of former Saint Rory, starred in the final of the Under-19 Euros two months ago – helping England to beat Israel in the final. The youngster has been prolific at youth levels for City’s hyper-successful academy, scoring 32 goals in his last 30 Premier League 2 matches. Burnley have already snapped up Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Arijanet Muric and defender CJ Egan-Riley from City’s academt on permanent deals.
Nunes on radar
City are reportedly "still pursuing" Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes according to reports. The 23-year-old has already secured eight caps for Portugal and is a regular in the Sporting starting XI. Despite Guardiola's insistence that he would be making no further signings this summer, City reportedly remain in the hunt for his signature. According to claims cited by the Manchester Evening News from Sky Germany the club still hope to sign Nunes this summer.

Guerreiro links persist
Another full-back Portugal international Raphael Guerreiro continues to be linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. Multiple sources in Germany claim the Dortmund defender remains under consideration with less than three weeks of the window remaining. Guardiola had hoped to bring Marc Cucurella in this summer, though the former Brighton man instead moved to Chelsea after City refused to meet the Seagulls' demands. Sergio Gomez is due to arrive from Anderlecht and Guardiola has revealed he will go straight into the first team group and not on loan as originally planned.
