Man City star Phil Foden recalls 'scary' Leeds United experience ahead of Premier League clash

Manchester City ace Phil Foden has admitted that facing off against Leeds United at Elland Road can be "scary" due to the atmosphere the home fans create.

Pep Guardiola's side clash with the Yorkshire outfit in the Premier League on December 28, with the Blues aiming to return to top-flight action with a victory. It will be City's second competitive game back after the break for the World Cup, coming after a Carabao Cup match against Liverpool.

It remains to be seen which World Cup stars will feature in the game against Jesse Marsch's men, but Foden - who was impressive for England in Qatar - has already spoken about the atmosphere at Elland Road.

The Blues attacker registered one goal and two assists at the tournament and started in the semi-final defeat to France. He also made a strong start to the campaign for Guardiola's side and could potentially feature against Leeds.

"It can be scary [Elland Road], definitely," Foden told Amazon Prime Sport. "They [the fans] feel so on top of you, always shouting, throwing paper at me last time, but you know I enjoy those occasions playing against big teams like that, Leeds, and the atmosphere they create.

"It’s good for the Premier League to have atmospheres like this, to make it such a special stadium. You definitely have to be on your best game to get a result."

Foden has scored eight goals and assisted three more for City this term, with the 22-year-old having created a solid partnership with star striker Erling Haaland. He has registered one goal and three assists in his four appearances against Leeds.
