Man City star Aymeric Laporte fires brutal response to Arsenal defeat by Brighton

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has fired a brutal response to Arsenal's 3-0 defeat against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table following their 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park earlier today.

The Gunners had the chance to move back within a single point of City if they were to beat the Seagulls in the later kick-off this afternoon. Goals from Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan saw Arsenal suffer a huge blow to their Premier League title hopes - handing City a huge advantage.

Guardiola's side could be crowned Premier League champions for a fifth time in six years if they beat Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday. Arsenal have just two games left to play this season, whilst City still have a game in hand on the Gunners.

Laporte helped the reigning champions keep a clean sheet and pick up all three points against Everton this afternoon. The Spaniard has been known to be very active on social media and now he has issued a brutal response to Arsenal's devastating defeat against Brighton.

The City defender tweeted a picture of famous WWE wrestler and actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, quoting his iconic catchphrase 'can you smell it'. Laporte's tweet came after his team-mate Jack Grealish had posted: "One step closer! Citehhh," on his Instagram story following their win on Merseyside.

A Twitter user responded to Laporte's tweet with the post: "It’s home already." To which the Spaniard replied: "No no never, we still have to work for it."

Arsenal are relying on a miracle if they are to win the Premier League title this season with City able to extend their lead to seven points if they win their game in hand. The Gunners will need a five-point swing in their favour if they are to lift their first title since 2004.
