Man City squad vs Real Madrid confirmed after Pep Guardiola gives Nathan Ake injury update

Nathan Ake was the only Manchester City player missing from the squad preparing to face Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola confirmed Ake's absence on Tuesday as is still to recover from the calf injury that has kept him out of the last two City fixtures - including the away draw at the Bernabeu in last week's first leg.

There had been external doubts over Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne after City's win at Everton, with Rodri appearing to pick up a knock at Goodison Park and De Bruyne on the bench as an unused substitute. However, Guardiola has confirmed there are no concerns over either midfielder.

Guardiola said on Tuesday: "Except Nathan, everyone is fit," and with Ake the only notable absentee, the manager oversaw a training squad of 23 players.

Youngsters Ben Knight and Alex Robertson were also present in training, although they are unlikely to be included in the squad to face Madrid on Wednesday.

City football director Txiki Begiristain and former Blues assistant coach Juanma Lillo were among those watching on.

Man City training squad: Ederson, Ortega, Carson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Laporte, Akanji, Lewis, Gomez, Phillips, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Grealish, Foden, Robertson, Mahrez, Knight, Alvarez, Haaland, Palmer.
