Manchester City are interested in Real Madrid's Ferland Mendy, according to reports.
The January transfer window has now been opened and with it comes the countless rumours linking City with all manner of players. The Blues are unlikely to strengthen in the new year following their massive spending spree in the summer and Pep Guardiola has said as much.
"We are not going to sign anyone in January. We are not going to sign [anyone] in January," the manager said in November. "The squad we have we are pleased [with], the squad will stay the same."

However, that hasn't stemmed the tide of speculation and according to Defensa Central City are keen on Mendy, with it being claimed the left-back is being ‘sought by the Citizens.' If there was one position City wanted to strengthen in the opening month of 2023 it might well be left-back.
Joao Cancelo has struggled to find his best form this season while Sergio Gomez, who was signed to replace the departed Aleks Zinchenko, has not had a great start to life at the Etihad. Centre-back Nathan Ake has started the last two games at left-back.
The report adds that Madrid would be willing to sell Mendy if a good offer was made, although he is a regular starter in Carlo Ancelotti's side. Newcastle United have also been linked.
Mendy isn't the only left-back City are said to be interested in as Calciomercatoweb claim that Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri is of interest as Guardiola 'likes him a lot' while Borrusia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro could be an option as his contract expires in the summer.
