Manchester City midfielder Diego Rosa has secured a season-long loan move to Portuguese side FC Vizela.
Defensive midfielder Rosa, 19, signed for City from Brazilian side Gremio in 2020 for an initial £2.65million, with further instalments taking the transfer fee to £5.2m after he completed the move to the Etihad in January 2021.
Other add-ons could take the deal to £21m, but that would require him to break into the City first team and make over 30 appearances. If he gets promoted to the City first-team squad, the Blues will owe Gremio another £3.5m, and for every ten first team games he plays – up to 30 – they will owe another £4m.

He has spent the last 18 months on loan at City's sister club Lommel, where he made 29 appearances, scoring twice. Last summer, City reached a deal with Lommel to recall Rosa for pre-season last year while most of the first-team squad were on holiday after Euro 2020, where he got the chance to impress Pep Guardiola.
Now, Rosa has been loaned out again, this time to the Primeira Liga side FC Vizela, and he says he intends to bring his Brazilian style to northern Portugal.
"The expectation is the best possible. I want to arrive, do my best and be recognized by Vizela fans," he said.
“I am very happy to be in Vizela, I want to do my best and play my football happy, with a smile, as is typical of Brazilian football. Manchester City is a very big club where every player dreams of playing. I already did a pre-season there, with great players like Fernandinho. But now I'm in Vizela. Portuguese football has a lot of quality, a lot of intensity, I will adapt quickly.
“I'm a player who shoots a lot from outside the area, I have a good long pass… And I also want to score goals. To the supporters of Vizela I say that I arrive to add to the group. Believe me, because I will always give my best."
On Instagram, he wrote: "Beginning of a new stage that will be a lot of learning. I will do everything to make everyone happy! Anxious and motivated to return to competition, now defending the colours of Vizela. I thank God and everyone who trusts my work. May it be a season of victories for us."
