Liverpool's rivals Manchester City have responded to a string of Premier League charges, with the club saying they are 'surprised' by today's allegations.
In a club statement issued following the news this morning, City claim they are surprised by the charges - which relate to alleged breaches of profit and sustainability regulations.
And the champions, who claim that they can provide a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" have vowed to put the matter to rest when the allegations considered by an independent commission.

Man City's statement in full: "Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.
"The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.
"As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."
It emerge early on Monday morning that, following a four-year investigation by the League, City have been charged with more than 100 alleged rule breaches.
It is believed that City could face anything from fines, to transfer bans and even league expulsion should they be found guilty of such breaches.
