Manchester City are investigating an incident showing two fans allegedly mocking the Hillsborough disaster.
Footage circulated on social media in the wake of Liverpool's 2-2 draw with City at the Etihad which caught a pair of City supporters on camera seemingly making obscene gestures referencing Hillsborough in the direction of opposition fans. The Liverpool Echo claims City officials are looking into the incident and taking the matter seriously.
The person who is believed to have initially shared the clip on Twitter said: "All for the footy banter and that but draw the line with Hillsborough". A total of 97 people lost their lives as a result of the disaster in Sheffield, which occurred in April 1989 during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.
The incident came in the aftermath of Sunday's enthralling draw which ensures the title race is set to go right down to the wire. City came firing out the blocks as Kevin De Bruyne gave the hosts an early lead before Diogo Jota continued his fine run of form to peg one back for the visitors. Pep Guardiola's men restored their lead through Gabriel Jesus but Liverpool responded emphatically after the break as Sadio Mane equalised within a minute of the restart.
Neither side could find a winner as the spoils were shared with a point separating the two title rivals. Klopp paid tribute to both clubs for producing such an incredible game of football.
He said: "It was an exceptional game of football. Two heavy-weights, chomping at each other. It's crazy the intensity. A completely different level. The concentration levels from both teams...
"What I liked the most was that in all situations we caused them problems and I felt we made a step in that department. I am happy.
"Would I have wanted to win the game? Yes. We have to win an awful lot of football and that doesn't change. If there was one we could draw, it was today. We keep going.
"We will use the game. I'm already in the Benfica game but of course we will try to understand the moments. City were more direct than usual and we were less. We will see what they do next time and us. It's really fine for today.
"It was a proper football game. If you played for another club, played yesterday, won it, trained today then watching City vs Liverpool. I don't know what I would have done to watch it but to be a part of it... I cannot stop being surprised. I love it. Let's keep going and see where we end up."
