Manchester City have enjoyed a couple of injury boosts ahead of facing Newcastle.
Although Kevin De Bruyne is out long-term, John Stones and Ruben Dias were surprisingly back in the squad for the UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla. Bernardo Silva, however, missed the trip due to an issue.
Here is your latest update of Man City injuries and return dates...
Kevin De Bruyne
The midfielder faces potential surgery after suffering yet another hamstring injury during the win over Burnley on Friday.
Pep Guardiola has now confirmed the Belgian will miss several months of action in a huge blow to the champions.
Ruben Dias
Portuguese defender Dias had been ruled out of the Sevilla clash due to concussion protocol.
Guardiola said City were “scared” when his player suffered the blow in training before facing Burnley, a game he missed as an automatic seven-day absence was triggered. However, he appeared on the bench in Athens regardless.
“Ruben was a concussion in the head,” revealed the manager. “We were scared what happened so the protocol has to be seven days off.”
John Stones
A hip injury forced Stones out of the Burnley game and he wasn’t set to be fit until the game with Newcastle this coming Saturday, at the earliest. He too ended up on the bench for the Super Cup, though.
“John felt with one pass something in the abductor,” Guardiola confirmed on Friday night.
“The doctor told me today he feels really good so it will not be long. He will not be ready for Sevilla, but maybe Newcastle.”
Bernardo Silva
A knock kept Silva out of the Super Cup tie after reports of pains and fatigue following the Burnley game.
He is therefore a doubt to face Newcastle.
