Man City injury update: Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake latest news and return dates

Manchester City have received mixed injury news this week.

Sunday’s win over Fulham came after a late setback in the form of Kevin De Bruyne not being named in the matchday squad.

Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the Belgian’s fitness issue after Julian Alvarez came into the team to score the winner at Craven Cottage.

City have also been dealing without Nathan Ake in recent weeks with the defender now set to return ahead of upcoming clashes against the likes of Real Madrid.

Here is your latest update of Man City injuries and return dates...

Kevin De Bruyne

Having not travelled to Fulham on the weekend, De Bruyne will only return to training shortly before the game against West Ham.

Standard Sport understands he suffered the blow towards the end of the win over Arsenal, with it more of a precaution to leave him out.

Yet, Guardiola offered a more negative assessment of his chances for returning this week when speaking on Tuesday.

He said: “Kevin has started to move but didn't train with the team. We have training in a few hours, we will see how they feel.”

Nathan Ake

A hamstring injury suffered in the Champions League trip to Bayern Munich has kept Ake on the sidelines since April 19.

Guardiola has since spoken positively about the Dutch defender, while playing Manuel Akanji as a makeshift left-back.

On Monday, Ake returned to training and has been confirmed as in contention to face West Ham.

“Nathan trained with us yesterday, he feels good,” said Guardiola.
