Man City Injury News: Ederson a 'Doubt' For Aston Villa Clash

The latest injury news for Man City is that goalkeeper Ederson is a ‘doubt’ for their Saturday lunchtime clash at Aston Villa.

Man City Injury News: Ederson Could Miss Aston Villa Clash

The Brazilian goalkeeper has struggled this season, coinciding with Man City’s worrying form over the last two months.

He was left on the bench for consecutive Premier League games against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace this month.

It came after some disappointing performances from the Brazilian who was replaced by Stefan Ortega.

The 31-year-old returned to the starting XI for their disappointing 2-1 defeat against Manchester United.

Now ahead of another tricky test in Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ederson is a ‘doubt’ for the big game with a minor issue.

He said: “Ederson, I don’t know if he will be ready for tomorrow (Saturday), and we have to continue, it’s the only thing we have to do.” Guardiola didn’t shine further light on the specific nature of the Brazilian’s issue.

Ederson’s potential absence would be a massive blow for Manchester City. Guardiola’s side are in terrible form with just one win in 11 games across all competitions.

Depending how other results go this weekend, City could be as low as ninth in the standings if they lose at Villa Park.

More Defensive Woes For City

It is not the only injury concern for Man City going into the weekend.

Ederson could join Ruben Dias on the Man City injury list, with Guardiola confirming the Portuguese defender’s absence.

Guardiola said: “[He will be out for] three or four weeks. It was a muscular injury, [after] 75 minutes against Manchester United he felt something. He is so strong and he stayed on the pitch and now he is injured.”

John Stones has already been out of action for some time while Manuel Akanji has only just returned to training.

Guardiola said Stones will need time before he is back at his best while it’s unsure whether Akanji would be rushed back from injury.
