Man City fans divided on 'random' new third kit after announcement

Manchester City and Puma have unveiled the club's new third kit for the 2022/23 season, and it's fair to say it hasn't received the warmest of receptions.

The strip is neon yellow with black hoops, a design that City says takes inspiration from the Manchester worker bee and pays tribute to the city's artistic heritage with a spray paint effect.

City took the unusual step of launching the kit in the online world of Roblox. On Wednesday night, City tweeted images of the shirt in digital form within the Roblox world — an online platform that allows users to program games and play games made by other users, with Lego-style figures modelling the design.

The kit, reminiscent of City's neon yellow number from 2015/16, completes City's collection of kits for the season. The maroon-accented home shirt — a tribute to club legend Colin Bell — and the updated red and black striped away strip received largely positive feedback, but the same cannot be said for Puma's latest effort.

@julliana_ianne: Good thing Man City has good looking players

@citykevin_: well at least it's better than last year's. congratulations puma on not doing the worst possible job

@DylanVOwen: Better than the pyjamas of last year but still an ugly as sin third kit!

@handyandy4: Who comes up with this rubbish?

@Aryan041104: They defo just design the kits and try and waffle about some random "cultural" stuff to justify it

@ITSYOURDESTINI1: Jack can make anything look good

@Sotho_Astronaut: Nah this kit actually slaps. It's growing on me like the first kit

@CrustyFlacko: It’s actually better than the leaks, not terrible.
