Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Argentine superstar Lionel Messi next summer.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward's contract in France is set to expire next summer, with reports suggesting he could seek pastures new. He has been linked with a return to former club Barcelona, but reports coming out of Spain now suggest La Blaugrana could face competition for his signature from City.
Fichajes reports that City have "always been interested in getting Messi's services in order to have a dream attack with Erling Haaland". The report adds that City boss Pep Guardiola, who worked with Messi at Barca, is a "key piece in convincing the Argentine to move to the Etihad Stadium".

But fellow Premier League side Chelsea are also interested in the Argentine and are expected to be in the picture should he leave the French capital. Meanwhile, Napoli's position on allowing star winger Kvara Kvaratskhelia to move to Manchester City has been revealed, according to reports.
It has been claimed in recent weeks that City are keen on a move for the Napoli sensation next summer, although water appears to have been poured on those flames. Kvaratskhelia has proved a revelation since joining Napoli from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi in the summer, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in all competitions this season.
His form has helped his side establish a three-point lead at the top of Serie A and secure a place in the last-16 of the Champions League, and understandably Europe's heavyweights have started to circle. City are just one of the clubs rumoured to be eyeing up a transfer in 2023, but Goal reports that the Italian team considers Kvaratskhelia "non-transferable" and that they "will not accept any offer for him in January".
