Man City aiming to ‘hijack’ Alexis Mac Allister transfer to rivals and more rumours

Manchester City are reportedly poised to enter the race for Brighton playmaker Alexis Mac Allister.

The World Cup winner has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, although the strongest speculation has been surrounding a switch to Liverpool. City could be looking for a new midfielder this summer depending on exits.

Bernardo Silva is anticipated to depart while Ilkay Gundogan’s future is in the balance having not yet signed a new deal amid interest from Barcelona, albeit reports suggest the German’s recent performances may make him think twice about an exit.

Either way, the Mirror claims City have put themselves in the race for Mac Allister. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi admitted on Sunday that a number of key players could leave the AMEX this summer.

City are said to have drawn up a list of targets, which includes Mac Allister. Young 19-year-old breakthrough star Julio Enciso is also thought to make the cut.

Joshua Kimmich and Josko Gvardiol have also apparently been circled with Aymeric Laporte seemingly set to exit at the end of the season. Declan Rice has been liked too.

Meanwhile, the Athletic states that Arsenal have an interest in Gundogan. The 32-year-old lifted the Premier League title at the Etihad on Sunday after a lengthy race against the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen for Gundogan to follow in the footsteps of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus by making a switch to the Emirates. No agreements about his future have yet been made, the report says.

Arteta apparently sees Gundogan as the perfect replacement for the exiting Granit Xhaka, who is set to join Bayer Leverkusen. Barcelona are eager to bring the Blues club captain to the Nou Camp, with that possibility still remaining open.
