Man City ace Kyle Walker makes playing time admission as Arsenal great lauds Pep Guardiola's side

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines on Saturday, April 29.

Walker makes City admission about playing time under Guardiola

Kyle Walker admits to struggling with not always playing regularly for Manchester City - but is willing to park any grievances with manager Pep Guardiola and put the team first.

The England international played the full 90 minutes against Arsenal on Wednesday night after also completing last weekend's FA Cup semi-final versus boyhood club Sheffield United but has not always been a guaranteed starter as of late.

Walker, 32, barely featured during the two-legged Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich, making just one late cameo appearance, and was not called upon by Guardiola in the Premier League match against Liverpool to start the month. The defender is adamant that he is not alone in believing he should be playing every match.

"I have struggled sometimes when things are not going your way outside of football or a bit of bad form," Walker told the Daily Mail. "I always think, go back to the basics – what got you to your happy place. Things are out of your control sometimes. Every one of us down there thinks they should be playing. It's how you react. I'm the worst; I hate not playing."

Merson gives two reasons City were 'perfect' vs Arsenal

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson suggested Manchester City are 'head and shoulders' above every team in the Premier League when they play at their best.

Pep Guardiola's side secured a crucial 4-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal on Wednesday night, with Kevin De Bruyne (2), John Stones and Erling Haaland all on target for the Blues. The result saw the reigning champions move within two points of the Gunners with two games in hand.

It was one of City's strongest performances of the season, and Guardiola's men were praised for their impressive showing at the Etihad. Should the Blues win their two games in hand, they will move four points clear of the London outfit in the top-flight table. Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson - who made over 350 appearances for Arsenal - claimed City were in a league of their own when they show up and perform at their best as he praised their ability to set traps and win the ball back quickly against the Gunners.

"I think we've got give credit to Man City, when Man City play well and they play like that, they're head and shoulders above everybody else," he said. "I don't think anyone touches them, they were all over Arsenal. Everything they did was perfect, they were showing them [Arsenal] down alleys, nicking the ball off them, they couldn't keep it for four or five passes."
