Man charged with murder over stabbed body found in car

A man remains behind bars, charged with murder, over an alleged stabbing on the Central Coast this week, after a dead man's body was found inside a parked car.

Tristan Sherrin-Hill, 30, did not apply for bail when he faced one count of murder for the first time in Gosford Local Court on Thursday.

The State Crime Command's homicide squad and Brisbane Water police arrested Mr Sherrin-Hill at Gosford police station at about 7.30am on Monday, only a few hours after a dead man was discovered in a Umina Beach carpark.

Emergency crews were called to Trafalgar Avenue at about 3.15am, where they found the dead 40-year-old, with stab wounds, inside a vehicle.

Mr Sherrin-Hill, a Umina Beach local, was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery for a hand injury, police said in a statement announcing the charge on Wednesday night.

He will face court again on December 15.

He was refused bail and will face the charge for the first time in Gosford Local Court on Thursday, October 19.

The identity of the 40-year-old victim has not yet been publicly released.
