New York prosecutors have released official charging documents in the case of a man suspected of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The suspect, identified as Luigi Mangione, was allegedly captured on surveillance video fatally shooting Thompson outside a Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
According to Detective Yousef Demes of the Midtown North Detective Squad, the evidence linking Mangione to the crime includes footage from a hostel surveillance camera. The video reportedly shows Mangione leaving a Manhattan hostel around 5:30 a.m. ET, just an hour before the shooting, wearing the same clothing seen in the shooting footage. Additionally, records from the hostel indicate that Mangione checked in under the name Mark Rosario on November 24 at 11 p.m. ET.
During his arrest at a Pennsylvania McDonald's, Mangione allegedly presented a forged New Jersey ID with the name Mark Rosario, matching the identification used at the hostel. This led to the inclusion of charges such as Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree in the official complaint.
