Man charged with armed robbery after balaclava-clad thug robs petrol station at knifepoint

A man has been charged with armed robbery after a balaclava-clad thug held up a Meath petrol station at knifepoint.

The scary incident took place at a service station in Trim at 7:15am on Saturday morning.

The perpetrator entered the station wearing a balaclava and brandishing a knife before robbing the station and fleeing the scene by car.

Gardai arrived at the station after the robber had gone, but the car allegedly used as the getaway vehicle was then found parked outside a house around two miles away from the scene.

Searches of the area led to the arrest of the suspect, a man in his 20s, who was then brought to Trim garda station.

He was quickly charged and brought before Dublin District Court, where he was granted bail.
