A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a woman found stabbed to death at a flat in south London.
Robert Sabat, 59, is accused of killing Dickiesa Nurse and threatening two paramedics with a knife.
Police were called by London Ambulance Service at about 5pm on Monday to a disturbance at McCormick House on Tulse Hill, Brixton.
Officers deployed a 50,000-volt Taser stun gun and arrested Sabat.
Inside the property, 42-year-old Mrs Nurse was discovered with multiple stab wounds.
Sabat, of Balham High Road, appeared before Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he was remanded into custody.
According to court records, the medics Sean and Hannah were allegedly “unlawfully and intentionally” threatened with an offensive weapon namely a knife “in such a way that there was an immediate risk of serious physical harm”.
Sabat is next before the Old Bailey on Friday.
Mrs Nurse’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, the Metropolitan Police said.
Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for Lambeth, said: “This is a deeply shocking crime and our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the woman who sadly died.
“Our officers are working at pace to piece together what happened.
“We realise this is particularly disturbing for those living in the local area.
“Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days and are encouraged to reach out to officers if they have any concerns."
