A Glasshouse Mountains man has been charged after he was found more than 1,000 kilometres from the scene of an alleged robbery and carjacking at knifepoint outside a Mackay school.

Police say a 29-year-old woman was parked near Victoria Park State School on Goldsmith St when the 32-year-old accused allegedly approached her on February 14.

The man allegedly demanded the woman get out of the vehicle then, when she refused, threatened her with a knife.

Police will allege that after a "short struggle" the man drove off in the woman's blue station wagon.

The woman was not injured.

Police issued a public appeal for help on February 15, releasing CCTV footage of the man allegedly using the woman's credit card at a service station in Farleigh.

He was found Cunnamulla, west of Toowoomba, on February 18, more than 1,000km away from where he allegedly robbed the woman.

He has been charged with armed robbery, entering premises, fraud, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

His matter was transferred to Charleville Magistrates Court where he appeared yesterday.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear via videolink on April 12.
