Man captures 'big cat' on trail cam in the West Country

A man has captured some of the most convincing footage of a 'big cat' roaming the countryside in the West Country. Evidence of the creatures living amongst us has been building up.

DNA found in Gloucestershire on barbwire fence following a sheep attack has offered 'definitive proof', some experts claim. The strands had a 99 per cent match to a big cat species.

And there have been multiple sightings of the animals across our county this year alone. Taking to TikTok, one man shared his findings after he staged a camera.

Mark said: "I put the trail cam out for all sorts of wildlife, secretly hoping that I would get something like this.

"I never truly believed I would until I saw what I captured really. I found this really wild area of land where I put it and it had been down there for about five nights.

"I decided to get it in and I sort of flicking through deer after deer badger. And then all of a sudden there it was like a three shot burst of couldn't describe it at first.

"I was really excited and sort of run and went and showed Sam. She sort of was in shock and awe as well.

"I sort of was flicking back through the pictures and I saw the pictures of the deer and I thought well yeah it is this big. It's not your average Tom cat strolling through.

"I knew it would be very strange for a domestic to be there because it's a very long way from any houses, any roads, it's proper wilderness.

He estimated the cat was around 2ft tall.

Dozens of people replied to the post, praising the video for its clear footage. One person wrote: "Amazing all the clear pictures of everything else? Big cat can’t really see it… what a surprise."

Another said: "It's well known there's been sightings of a possible puma or panther at Bodmin Moors".
