A Ford Raptor owner's pain was documented when he filled up his truck with a full tank of gas for the first time. How much does it cost to fill up in 2026?
Pele Doly (@Ms_Peeh) filmed her husband looking solemnly at the rising number while at the pump. The video begins when the number is at $98. It climbs all the way up past $123. The man looks back at Doly in disbelief.
“POV: your husband first time filling up his raptor,” Doly writes.
In a caption, she adds, “He wanted the Raptor, now he gotta feed it.”
Should He Take The Ford Raptor Back?
Viewers want the man to throw the whole car away.
“That Raptor would be going back to the Jurassic because ain’t no way,” one penned.
Another said, “Soon as it’s on E trade that ... in.”
“Should’ve did $30 and drove back to the dealership," a third said.
“And it’s at Costco,” a fourth pointed out. It's well-known Costco consistently prices gas below competitor costs on average, nationwide.
How Much Does Gas Cost In 2026?
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, as of Sept. 28, 2026, gas prices have skyrocketed to $4.465 per gallon, which is up more than 30 cents from just two weeks prior. Although, there has been a slight downward shift from the week prior of a whipping single cent for every gallon of fuel.
Although, gas prices largely depend on where one resides. West Coast residents, for instance, are getting hammered with gas costs. Between Sept. 14 and Sept. 28, gas rose from $5.467 to $5.724 per gallon. Diesel fuel costs haven’t fared any better, either. Each gallon of diesel fuel will cost drivers $6.382 at the pump.
So if you have a big rig, you’re going to look at Doly’s video with envy, wishing you were paying what her husband is on his ride.
Ford Raptors: How Much Does It Cost To Fill Up?
The U.S. automaker currently offers three separate Raptor model lines: the F-150, the Bronco, and the Ranger. Raptors are known for tricked-out engines, specifically tuned for fast, pavement-ribboning performance.
The one that started it all is the F-150, which Ford now offers in a Raptor R variant as well. Standard F-150 Raptors come with a whopping 450-horsepower V6, while the R has a 720-hp supercharged V8 under its hood.
Raptor R drivers will only get, on average, an estimated 10 miles per gallon for city and 15 miles per gallon for highway driving. Its V6 sibling doesn’t fare much better, with 15-16 miles per gallon on city and highway roads, respectively.
The Ranger Raptor will also inspire you to immediately sign up for every gas promotion you can get your hands on, as its 3.0L EcoBoost V6 will only get you 17 miles per gallon on average. And the Bronco Raptor only gets around 16 miles per gallon on average.
A Ford Truck With Decent Gas Mileage
The words "truck" and "fuel efficiency" don’t go hand-in-hand. Chances are if you need a large truck, then the cost of gas is something you’ve factored into your personal budget as an unavoidable expense. If you’re a person who just wants a Raptor because the big-car-go-fast life is too tempting to not embrace, then no amount of arguing for the economics of smart fuel usage will probably sway you from that.
But if you don’t need a large and in-charge pickup, just something with a bed to haul stuff around with a decent towing capacity (depending on the trim you pick), the Ford Maverick can be a great choice. The front-wheel-drive hybrid variant gets 42 miles per gallon in the city, with AWD getting 40 miles per gallon, according to Ford.
